Trailblazers on 2011 All-Star Ballot

There are four Portland Trailblazers on the 2011 All-Star Ballot, and we thought you would like to know which ones and how to vote for them. LaMarcus Aldridge is on the list for forwards, Andre Miller and Brandon Roy are on the list for guards, and Marcus Camby is on the list for centers.

Here at the Rip City Podcast, we are Blazer fans to the core, and I want to make a strong case for LaMarcus Aldridge specifically as an All-Star on the 2011 team.

LaMarcus Aldridge is, in my opinion, a shoe-in for an All-Star spot. He has really come into his own as a dominant player in the NBA, especially this season. He performed well in his past seasons, but has stepped it up in a big way this season. Recently, against Denver, put up 18 points, 13 rebounds and a career high 7 blocks. That is against a team that has a lot of power in the paint in Nene, Chris "The Birdman" Andersen and Kenyon Martin. I was checking the stats from that game and see that they rejected a total of 5 shots put together, Aldridge out blocked all 3 of them... COMBINED! That's quite a feat! That is just one example of how Aldridge has proved himself worthy of an All-Star vote, but it is very nice and a great example of his growth as a player and his willingness to get going when the going gets tough.

On "Chalk Talk" just now Mike Rice stated that he thinks LaMarcus Aldridge is an All-Star candidate for sure, but only because of his performance in the last 10 games. I couldn't agree more. He was a great player at the beginning of the season, but has really stepped-up recently, with the temporary loss of Brandon Roy to injury and seemingly permanent loss of Greg Oden to injury.

Keep up the good work L.A! L.A. = A.S. 2011

-Matt
